| The Harry James Orchestra, under the direction of Fred Radke, will kick off the 2007-08 season of “Live! in Lexington” on Tuesday, Oct. 23. The production is a “Big Band Salute to The Music That Won WWII.”
The band has a tradition of mellow arrangements and fine rhythmic playing that first made it famous, and is now under the direction of Harry James' lead trumpet virtuoso, Fred Radke. The Harry
James Orchestra plays in the major venues of the United States, including many re-engagements in Las Vegas and Disneyland and tours extensively throughout the
world. |

The wonderful reputation of the Welsh as a ‘Nation of Singers’ is obviously exemplified in this group – but there is more ….much more. The Chorus’ performance is often described as a ‘Musical Journey through Wales’. And as a reviewer wrote on the last tour: “ The Choir’s performance is outstanding! The musical quality and variety were magnificient’. |

Nathan Granner’s old school timbre and natural abilities are distinctive and rare. His voice combines a buoyant tone, compelling vibrato, clean diction and a resonant timbre. Mix those qualities together with his exuberant, daring character and one understands why Tenor Nathan Granner makes a captivating figure on any stage and in every performance. |

The Jeni Fleming Acoustic Trio, led by Jeni's powerful and honest voice, defies easy classification. Capable of delivering classical and jazz dichotomies in one breath, breezy folk tunes with a modern twist, and vibrant original pop in another, the Trio is rapidly garnering fans from coast to coast

Our
Beautiful and Historic Piano...
Nearly 100 years old,
the piano on stage is on permanent loan to "Live! in Lexington"
from the GFWC Woman's Club of Lexington. It is a Sohmer 9-foot concert
grand. The piano was originally owned by Central College for Women.
When that Lexington school closed in 1926, the GFWC Woman's Club
purchased the piano to assure that it remained in Lexington. It
has been housed for all those years in (what is now) the Lexington
Historical Museum building. When that building was the Lexington
Library, many of us played it during piano recitals. It was also
used to showcase visiting musicians. "Live! in Lexington"
arranged for the piano to be completely restored, and it will be
used for appropriate concerts. Its history continues! The initial
cost for restoration and maintenance will be over $5,000. Donations
to assist with the cost would be very welcome. |
