The Old West comes to Lexington October 5th & 6th

Preliminary Information - More Details to Follow

The Chamber’s Old West OctoberFest is a new fall festival designed to appeal to all ages…with a western theme. Although the schedule is still being finalized, we can share some of what you can expect.

Old West OctoberFest is scheduled for October 5th & 6th. The first event of the festival begins on Thursday with the annual Fine Art & Photography show opening at The LEX, 111 S. 11th Street. On Friday starting at 3pm, enjoy the beer garden downtown, then, starting at 5pm you can try your hand at riding our mechanical bull. There are settings on the bull that control movement so all ages and skill levels can enjoy a turn!

As the evening begins, the festival becomes a street festival complete with food, music by Blackjack Creek and an outdoor beer garden. You’ll likely find some friendly western outlaws meandering up and down Main Street during the evening! The festival runs until 10pm on Friday night.

As Old West OctoberFest gets underway outside, the Chamber will host its annual Apple Auction at the P&H Center, 1111 Main Street, beginning with social hour at 5pm. Chili and apple desserts will be available for $5. The auction begins at 6pm. The bidding is always fast and furious, (all in good fun) with proceeds going towards Chamber projects throughout the year. Participants are encouraged to join the street party on Main Street after the auction.

The festival opens at 10am Saturday and the western theme really heats up. Costumed "outlaws" will roam the streets (ready for selfies!) along with horses and pony rides. These are authentically dressed reenactors! You’ll get to see demonstrations of cattle roping, farrier work and blacksmithing during the day.

You'll again have a chance to view the Fine Art & Photography show, build a scarecrow, ride the mechanical bull and enjoy street food (including Ribs for Wrestlers BBQ tasting), the outdoor beer garden and street vendors.

Craft beer enthusiasts will love the BrewFest tasting event at the P&H Center from 4-7pm. We’ll be hosting a very diverse group of brewers, ready for you to sample their handiwork.

Many Wentworth alumni will be visiting the festival, celebrating the grand opening of the Wentworth Museum and Masonic cornerstone re-dedication and the dedication of the WMA Doughboy.

Other planned activities include a Kid’s Craft Corral, trolley tours, square dancers and a “Beer Mile Run” hosted by the Elks Club. Starting at 6pm, The Bucket Band will take the stage (no cover charge). These guys will take you down memory lane with great tunes from the 60’s and 70’s. At 9pm the winner of the Old West OctoberFest gun raffle will be announced. The festivities continue until 10pm.

This is only a partial list of OctoberFest events with more info to come! For more details and booth information call the Chamber at 660-259-3082.
